STAGE 13 - Burgos – Hontanas

Hontanas

Hontanas

Anyone would like to stay a few more days in Burgos, but it is time to move on. We enter the wide Castilian plateau, a place full of high mountains and croplands  where the views will fade into the horizon and leave wonderful landscapes to remember.

You face a long stage of 31 kilometers in which you must be mindful of the extreme temperatures. It’s so hot in summer and very cold in Winter, so be aware of adjusting your departure time. Let’s tie the snickers firmly and appreciate the landscape that passes through the Arlanzón river until you arrive at Tardajos.

Given this situation, how about a spoon dish to recharge you energy? At kilometer 20, in Hornillos del Camino, you’ll find a good place for it. Casa Manolo is a typical local restaurant where we can make the stop we need and eat a good lentils stew or excellent meatballs. All of course, accompanied with great local wine.

After this great stew you may have the desire to take a little nap. Here you have two options: to divide the stage and spend the night in Hornillos or to continue 10 kilometers to arrive in Hontanas. If you decide to spend a night here, we invite you to consider the accommodation offered below.
